Fishing!

During a visit from volunteers Todd and Cindy Evans, Todd spent an afternoon with Sauri and his friends, Yoandi, Andy, and Titi, going fishing! Says Todd about the experience, "What a great day teaching the boys how to fish with a fishing pole. They had never seen a fishing pole before after we tought them how to use them we told them that the poles and tackel boxes were theirs to keep they were amazed to say the least. I dont think they could have smiled any bigger they jumped and screamed with pure joy!"

More About Them...

A volunteer, Crystal Fox, has the following to say about Sauri: What can I say about Sauri? I love him! He is one of the sweetest kids I have ever met. I spent alot of time with him on my first day volunteering. We were doing some home visits and he came along. As we approached the beach at Playa Oeste he became concerned because I was wearing flipflops. If you look at the pictures of the beach, you`ll see that it is entirely covered in garbage, much of it metal. Sauri was worried about my toes :) Sauri has to cross the Aguas Negras river by boat to get to the Club. Liz and I drove him home that day and he saw a baseball hat that I had in my bag for my sponsor child, Almondo. Sauri loves baseball and asked if he could have the hat. Liz told him no, that it was for another chico, and that it`s not polite to ask for things. He never mentioned the hat again but was always talking about baseball. On my last day I gave the boys each a baseball card. We hadn`t been expecting Sauri as he had a game but he came afterall. I snuck him a few extra cards and told him that Liz would have a package for him the next Club day. I had a hat and a ball that I had saved for him and when I looked at Jenny and Jencen`s pictures of that day, he was holding the package up to be seen in every picture:) He is such a sweetheart it`s impossible not to fall in love with him.
